It describes a method that uses software and artificial intelligence to automatically identify which business processes are particularly well-suited for automation by robots or software robots.
Instead of manually checking how invoices are processed, data is archived, or customer queries are answered, Robotic Process Discovery software analyses daily digital workflows. It gathers data on how employees use programmes and which recurring tasks are common. It then makes suggestions on where the use of robot software can make work more efficient, faster and cheaper.
A simple example: In an accounting department, Robotic Process Discovery software automatically checks how invoice data is entered into the system. The software recognises that this step always proceeds in the same way and suggests that this process be handled automatically by a software robot. This leaves employees with more time for more complex tasks, while routine work is processed more quickly.
