Responsible AI (Glossary)

(846)

Responsible AI belongs in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Society and Sustainability and Environmental 4.0. The term „Responsible AI“ describes the responsible handling of Artificial Intelligence. This means that AI systems are developed and used in a way that is fair, transparent and safe for everyone. It is particularly important that Artificial Intelligence supports people, makes decisions understandable and does not discriminate against anyone.

For example, imagine a company using AI to automatically sort job applications. Responsible AI ensures that the system does not discriminate against applicants, regardless of their gender or background. Furthermore, it must be clear why the AI suggests or rejects an application.

Responsible AI is therefore a principle that helps to adhere to ethical and societal rules in dealing with Artificial Intelligence. For companies and organisations, this means more trust from their customers, fewer risks, and better decisions in the long run. This is how artificial intelligence becomes a real help, not a danger.
