Fuzzy logic in robotics is primarily used in the fields of automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics. This term describes a special form of logic that allows robots not only to make decisions rigidly according to fixed rules, but to react flexibly and adaptively to situations – similar to a human.

Unlike classic computer rules, which only distinguish between „yes“ or „no“, Fuzzy Logic allows for intermediate stages – in other words, „perhaps“ or „partially“. This makes robots much better at dealing with uncertainties and incomplete information.

A clear example from practice: A robot is vacuuming a room and encounters a stain that is difficult to remove. With fuzzy logic, it can assess for itself how strong and how long it should vacuum, rather than merely distinguishing between „clean“ and „dirty.“ This allows it to adapt its cleaning individually and achieve better results.
