Digital Immune System (Glossary)

The term „Digital Immune System“ primarily comes from the fields of cybercrime and cybersecurity, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence. Here, it describes protective mechanisms that safeguard companies or digital systems from digital threats and attacks.

Just as our body's immune system defends against viruses and bacteria, a digital immune system is intended to prevent harmful software, hackers, or data loss. It consists of intelligent programmes that continuously monitor data and activities within the system and react immediately to anomalies. It constantly learns in order to also recognise new threats.

A simple example: An online shop uses a digital immune system. As soon as someone tries to illegally access customer data or carry out fraudulent transactions, the system raises an alarm, blocks the attack and informs the operator. This protects sensitive data and customer trust.

For businesses, a digital immune system not only means greater security but also saves time, as many attacks can be automatically detected and repelled. This is becoming increasingly important in the digital world, as cyber-attacks are constantly on the rise.
