Neural networks are primarily at home in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and big data and smart data. They are among the most important technologies when it comes to automatically evaluating large amounts of data and making decisions or recognising patterns from them.

A neural network, in German „neuronales Netzwerk“, is a computer program inspired by the functioning of the human brain. It consists of many artificial „neurons“ that receive, transmit, and process information. This is how a neural network learns to solve tasks better and better – much like we humans learn through practice.

A vivid example: When shopping online, a neural network can identify which products a customer is likely to find interesting. It analyses previous purchases, search queries and other data. Gradually, the system learns which recommendations are well-received – and adjusts its suggestions independently.

Neural networks play an important role in areas such as speech recognition, translations, or the recognition of images and patterns in large datasets. They enable companies to automate processes and tailor their offerings to customer needs.
