Distributed AI is at home in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Industry and Industry 4.0, and Digital Transformation.

Distributed AI means that artificial intelligence (AI) does not operate in just one location, but decentrally across multiple computers or devices. These devices are connected via a network and exchange information to solve problems or process tasks collaboratively.

A simple example: In a modern factory, many machines control production simultaneously. Instead of using a single central control for all decisions, each machine is given a small, own AI that handles its tasks independently. The AIs communicate with each other and coordinate to ensure the entire production process runs smoothly. This allows errors to be identified and rectified more quickly, and the entire process can be made more flexible.

Distributed AI therefore helps companies to make processes more efficient and to react more quickly to changes. It is suitable wherever many individual devices or locations have to act „intelligently“ together, such as in a connected fleet of vehicles, in smart grids for energy supply, or in automated warehouses.
