Data as a Service (DaaS) is primarily at home in the areas of Big Data and Smart Data, Digital Transformation, and Artificial Intelligence. The term describes a service where data is no longer managed on one's own servers, but is flexibly sourced from the cloud. Companies no longer need to build their own infrastructure for data storage and processing. They simply receive exactly the data they need, delivered directly over the internet – similar to a streaming service, but for data.

This way, small and medium-sized companies can also access high-quality information without needing expensive databases or specialists. A typical example: an online retailer wants to integrate current weather data into their shop system in order to better forecast demand. Instead of taking care of collecting and maintaining this data themselves, they can use a DaaS provider who supplies them with the current weather data directly in the desired format.

This saves time, costs, and makes companies more flexible. Data as a Service (DaaS) is therefore an important building block for modern, data-driven business models and is becoming increasingly popular in the course of digital transformation.
