Cognitive Search (Glossary)

Cognitive Search is primarily at home in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Smart Data, as well as Digital Transformation. This term describes a particularly intelligent search technology that goes far beyond traditional keyword searching. Cognitive Search uses Artificial Intelligence to filter out truly relevant information from large amounts of data and even recognise hidden connections.

Unlike traditional search functions, Cognitive Search understands the entire context of a query, not just individual words. This allows the technology to grasp similar terms, recognise synonyms, and even compensate for incorrect entries. This makes searching much more accurate and useful, especially when a large amount of diverse data such as emails, documents, and reports needs to be searched.

For example, a company in the digital transformation sector wants to know which projects were successfully completed in the last three years. With traditional search, one would have to search through all documents individually, whereas Cognitive Search automatically finds all relevant results, even if the word „completed“ was phrased differently.

Cognitive Search saves a lot of time and helps to make decisions faster and more informed.
