Click & Collect (Glossary)

Click & Collect is at home in the fields of eCommerce and Digital Commerce, Digital Marketplaces, and Digital Transformation. The term describes a shopping method where customers order goods online and can later collect them from a store or pick-up point. This combines the advantages of online shopping with the flexibility of stationary retail.

The principle works very simply: Customers search for and pay for their desired products online – for example, on the website of an electronics retailer. During the order process, they select Click & Collect as the shipping method and choose a branch near them. They can usually pick up their order there shortly afterwards – often on the same day.

A vivid example: You order a new drill online from a DIY store. Instead of waiting for delivery, you simply drive to the nearest branch and pick up the product straight away – with no shipping costs and no long waiting times.

Click & Collect therefore offers flexibility, quick availability, and saves time. This option is particularly popular when something is urgently needed or if you want to avoid shipping costs.
