AI Governance (Glossary)

4.2
(1125)

AI governance is a term that plays an important role, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital society, cybercrime and cybersecurity. It refers to the control and monitoring of artificial intelligence (AI) by people, companies or organisations. The aim is to ensure that AI systems are used responsibly, safely and in accordance with the law and ethical principles.

Put simply, AI governance ensures that AI cannot „just do what it wants“, but is given clear rules and controls. This applies, for example, to data protection, fair decisions without discrimination and the comprehensible functioning of algorithms.

A vivid example: An insurance company uses AI to automatically assess claims. Thanks to AI Governance, it is monitored that the AI does not make unfair decisions or misuse sensitive data. There are processes and people who regularly check the correct use of the technology.

AI governance is therefore an important building block to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits society and businesses, rather than harming them. This builds trust in new technologies and enables their safe deployment.
