Telerobotics are used where people cannot work directly or where it would be dangerous. A clear example is maintenance at a nuclear power plant: instead of exposing people to radiation hazards, a technician can control the robot from a safe distance to carry out repairs. Telerobotics are also used in medicine, for example in operations where surgeons operate a robotic arm from another city.

Telerobotics is particularly helpful in modern industry for making production processes more efficient and flexible.
