Robot-enabled cloud platforms are primarily found in the fields of automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0. They refer to special online platforms on which robots can be controlled, programmed, and monitored – all conveniently remotely and often without in-depth IT knowledge. These platforms offer a digital connection between machines and users, enabling work processes to be designed more efficiently, flexibly, and safely.
Instead of installing software directly on each individual robot, with robot-enabled cloud platforms, everything is managed centrally on the internet. This brings many advantages: updates and adjustments can be implemented immediately for all connected robots. If problems arise, remote intervention is possible. Furthermore, data from multiple robots can be collected and analysed – this helps to continuously improve processes.
A vivid example: In a car factory, robotic arms are coordinated via a robot-enabled cloud platform. If a robot fails, the engineering team automatically receives a warning and can initiate repairs or even install a software update directly from their office, without being on-site. This saves time and costs and increases productivity.
