The term platform robot is primarily found in the fields of automation, industry and Industry 4.0, as well as domestic robotics. Platform robots are versatile, usually mobile robots that serve as a flexible base for various tasks in warehousing, production, or logistics. They often handle transportation, the moving of goods, or even simple assembly tasks.

Imagine a platform robot as a kind of mobile assistant – similar to a serving trolley, but with its own drive and sensors to detect obstacles. A practical example: in a modern warehouse, platform robots automatically bring goods from a shelf location to employees, enabling them to process packages more quickly and efficiently. The platform can be equipped with different superstructure or tools so that it can perform various tasks.

Thanks to modern sensors and intelligent software, platform robots can navigate autonomously and react to changes in their environment. They are often used to take over monotonous or physically demanding tasks, thereby relieving human workers. Platform robots are therefore an important building block in modern, automated industry and support companies on their path to the „smart“ factory.
