The term „Natural Language Generation (NLG)“ belongs to the Artificial Intelligence category and is at home in the fields of automation, as well as Big Data and Smart Data. In short, NLG refers to the automatic creation of understandable texts by computer programs.

The goal of natural language generation is to process large amounts of data in such a way that readable texts are created from them – almost as if a human had written them. Typical areas of application include, for example, automatic weather reports, financial analyses or summaries of large datasets.

Imagine a software system receives sales figures from multiple regions and is tasked with creating a report. Through NLG, the system can analyse these figures and generate an understandable text: „In May, sales in Southern Germany rose by 10 percent, while in the North they fell by 5 percent.“

With natural language generation, companies can create reports faster and more efficiently, avoid errors and relieve employees. Especially with large amounts of data, NLG ensures that the most important findings are presented quickly and clearly. This turns numbers and facts into clear text in seconds that everyone can understand.
