Energy-efficient AI chips (Glossary)

4.2
(1502)

The term „low-energy AI chips“ is firmly embedded within the categories of Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability and Environment 4.0, and Industry and Factory 4.0. These specialised chips are designed to consume particularly little electricity when using artificial intelligence (AI). This makes it possible to operate even complex AI applications efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner.

Low-energy AI chips use smart technologies to process data and perform tasks with the lowest possible energy consumption. This is important, for example, in factories where many machines and sensors use AI simultaneously. Conventional chips often consume a lot of electricity, which is not only expensive, but also puts a strain on the environment due to high energy consumption.

A vivid example is an agricultural robot that distinguishes between weeds and crops using a low-power AI chip and removes them selectively. The robot works in the field for hours without needing constant recharging, thus saving electricity and costs.

Precisely because of the increasing electricity demand driven by digitalisation and AI trends, low-energy AI chips are becoming ever more important for companies aiming to operate resource-efficiently and future-proof their businesses.
