„Learning robots“ are at home in the fields of artificial intelligence, automation and Industry 4.0. They are machines that can learn independently through experience and data, rather than just rigidly executing predetermined commands. This means such robots repeatedly analyse tasks and independently improve their processes, similar to how humans learn from mistakes and successes.

A good example: In car manufacturing, there are robots that initially perform simple tasks, for example, assembling parts. Learning robots recognise when something isn't quite right and adjust their movements with each repetition. Gradually, they work faster and more accurately because they learn from their own processes.

This makes processes more flexible and efficient, especially where requirements are constantly changing. Furthermore, learning robots can react to unexpected situations and take on new tasks without being completely reprogrammed. Companies benefit from lower error rates, less downtime and increased productivity. With learning robots, production can be made smarter, more adaptable and future-proof.
