The term "inference-as-a-service" originates from the fields of artificial intelligence, big data and smart data, and digital transformation. It describes a service that enables companies to easily integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their own applications without needing to be experts themselves.

Instead of building an expensive AI infrastructure themselves, a company can use an external platform that handles so-called „inference“ – that is, making predictions or recognising patterns through AI. The data is sent to the platform, the AI calculates the result and sends it back.

An example: An online shop wants to predict which products a customer might like best. Using inference as a service, customer data is sent to an external AI service. The service quickly analyses the information and creates tailor-made product recommendations. In this way, the shop benefits from advanced AI technology without having to maintain in-depth expertise or complex technology itself.

With inference-as-a-service, artificial intelligence becomes accessible, time-saving and flexible for many companies – an essential building block of the digital future.
