The term hybrid robot is used primarily in the fields of automation, industry and Industry 4.0, as well as in domestic robotics. Hybrid robots are robots that combine different drive systems or control methods to enable more flexible and versatile applications. This means they often combine mechanical, electrical, and even digital elements.

A simple example: In a modern car factory, there are robots that can both lift heavy car parts and carry out fine welding work. In this case, a hybrid robot could be supported by a strong hydraulic arm for lifting, while a sensitive electric arm is used for precise welding. Both systems work together in a single robot.

Hybrid robots are therefore particularly in demand because they can perform multiple tasks in a single machine. This saves space, time, and costs, as a separate robot is not needed for every task. Especially in Industry 4.0, where efficiency and flexibility are crucial, hybrid robots offer a significant advantage for companies looking to future-proof their production.
