Most refugees live in Germany

In Germany live by far the most people in Europe Beneficiaries of protection, asylum seekers and those granted the right to remain for other humanitarian reasons. This is evident from figures which the World which was published today, citing a UNHCR report. France and Italy follow, by a considerable margin. According to the report, Berlin alone is home to almost as many of these migrants as Greece as a whole.

According to Welt, these figures would not prove that Italy and Greece have not been severely affected by the refugee issue. However, the statement that Germany has hitherto burdened the Mediterranean countries with the weight of migration is also false.
