Synergistic robotics belongs at home in the categories of robots, automation and Industry and Factory 4.0. The term describes how robots and humans work more closely together to achieve better results jointly than they would alone. „Synergistic“ means that the interaction achieves more than the sum of individual performances.
Unlike conventional robots, which work strictly separately from humans, synergistic robots („cobots“) support their human colleagues directly at the workplace. The goal is to leverage the strengths of both sides: robots take over monotonous, heavy, or dangerous tasks, while humans contribute their creativity and problem-solving abilities.
An example from automotive production: While a robot precisely tightens screws, humans assemble complex components or perform quality control. Both continually adapt to each other, communicating via sensors and intelligent software, and together increase efficiency and safety.
Synergistic robotics thus enables more flexible and productive workplaces. Companies, in particular, that focus on innovative and sustainable production methods benefit from this close collaboration between humans and machines.
