Self-control in the Neflental: Rosa Immergün and the Adventure in the Lily Pond Bay
The Neflental was in full splendour, the most beautiful time of the year. The sun cast golden, amber rays over the whole valley, and water everywhere mirrored the bright light. Many Neflental residents celebrated joyful festivals on the banks of the Crystal Lake. In the evening, coloured lanterns floated gently over the water. Revellers laughed, sang, and enjoyed the warm summer weather.
As everyone gathered around the campfire, Rosa Evergreen wandered off to the lily pond. This place was magical: dragonflies with iridescent wings glided over the water. The round lily pads bobbed gently in the small waves, and brightly coloured fish darted beneath them. The golden sunlight played on the water, making it sparkle like dancing sparks. Rosa always liked coming here when she wanted to think.
The feeling when everything is too much
Rosa met some friends on the riverbank. She was in a good mood, but when one of them accidentally splashed her clumsily with water, she suddenly became furious inside. Her heart pounded rapidly, and she felt like shouting and scolding loudly. But Rosa remembered some important advice someone had given her in the Neflental: if you want to stay cool, you have to learn to control yourself.
At first, it was difficult for Rosa. She didn't want to roar or leave the lily pond with her arms crossed. The colourful dragonflies buzzed past her, and she thought: What to do when anger is brewing?
Cool tricks for self-control – stay calm!
Rosa took a deep breath and looked at the tranquil waters of the lily pond. The fresh summer air tickled her nose, and the golden light enveloped her like a warm blanket. Through consciously breathing, she felt her anger slowly begin to subside.
She quietly counted her favourite colours in the shimmering light: the sun-gold, the sapphire-blue, the coral-red and the emerald-green of the plants. This way, she diverted her thoughts and slowly relaxed again. Her friend now noticed that it had been a mistake, and apologised. Rosa smiled. She could laugh again instead of being swept away by anger.
On this day, Rosa experienced firsthand how important self-control is. Because she didn't explode immediately but remained calm, she was able to enjoy the lovely moment with her friends. She was proud to become a true coolness champion.
Self-control makes you strong and happy in the Neflental.
Things that cause stress happen repeatedly in the Neflental. However, those who learn to remain calm and react in a friendly manner are clearly at an advantage. Rosa realised that self-control doesn't mean hiding your feelings. It means dealing with them intelligently and giving others the chance to make amends for mistakes.
As the campfire crackled that evening and lanterns rose into the summer sky, Rosa told her friends how she had overcome her anger in Lilypad Bay. Everyone listened intently and decided that next time, they too would breathe first and think of the beautiful light. Thus, the Glanzhoch-Zeit became a celebration of friendship and togetherness.
What do we learn from this?
In the Neflental, Rosa shows us that self-control makes us bigger than any problem. Those who remain calm and friendly win friends and show true coolness. Everyone can practice managing their feelings in a friendly way – even that alone makes life in the Neflental's summer sunlight even more beautiful. And if you're ever angry: take a deep breath, look around, and decide how you want to react. Then you'll be a true coolness champion!
