Why loyalty makes true friendships indestructible
Spring had finally arrived in the Neflental. Flowers were awakening everywhere. The birds were singing. Rosa Immergrün jumped out of her mossy bed early that morning and felt full of energy. Today was going to be a special day.
Their friends were already waiting by the stream. Together, they wanted to hike to the meadow of stars. They chatted and laughed, cut branches, and followed the path where dew still sparkled. Higher up lay the meadow of stars: a remote alpine pasture where, at night, small phosphorescent flowers flicker like stars. But today it was daytime. The tiny buds were still dormant. Rosa the periwinkle was already looking forward to the evening when the meadow of stars would glow.
But first, they visited the violet clearing. On this hidden meadow, violets and crocuses appeared everywhere, so densely that the ground was a single carpet of violet, sun-yellow, and leaf-green. In the centre, an old statue loomed, covered in soft, pearl-grey moss. Sunbeams seemed to shine directly into its sparkling eyes. Rosa Periwinkle stood on her tiptoes, marvelling at the play of light.
Suddenly, they heard an excited shout from the woods. It was the Flossian child Fern, darting frantically through the bushes. „Help!“ Fern cried, „my younger brother is trapped in a crevice between the rocks!“ Instantly, silence fell. No one was laughing anymore. Now they had to stick together.
Rosa Immergrün didn’t think for a second. She ran off, and her friends followed her lead. No matter how steep the path became, together they climbed over stones and roots. Fern pointed out the small rock crevice. A faint little voice whimpered from below. Without hesitation, Rosa Immergrün carefully squeezed into the narrow opening.
From above, her friends held her hands tightly so she wouldn't slip. Below, she reached the little Flossian. „Don't be scared,“ whispered Rosa Immergrün, „we'll get you out.“ Very carefully she pushed the boy upwards. The friends pulled them both back into the light.
Everyone fell into each other's arms with relief. Fern smiled and said, „Thank you. You didn't hesitate. We're safe because of you.“ Rosa Immergrün replied, „Friendship means always helping each other – no matter how difficult it is.“
In the evening, they sat in the grass on the starry meadow. The first phosphorescent flowers opened their blooms. A soft, flickering light spread, like a starry sky on Earth. They looked at each other and smiled. In that moment, they knew: loyalty makes their friendship strong. Wherever one needs help, they stand together. They trust each other. No one in the Nefl valley can break this bond.
And so the night shone brighter than ever before. Rosa Periwinkle and her friends lay among the illuminated flowers, feeling invincible – because they knew what loyalty truly meant. Their promise was for ever: One for all, all for one.
What do we learn from this?
If friends are loyal to each other, their friendship can withstand anything. Loyalty means being there for your friends. Together, you can face any adventure. And often, even the darkest night will turn bright again if someone stays by your side. This is how true friendship is only strengthened by every challenge.
