Sensor networks in robotics are primarily at home in the areas of robots, automation, and the Internet of Things.

A sensor network consists of many small sensors that are interconnected, collectively gathering and exchanging data. In robotics, these networks help robots to better perceive their surroundings and react to changes. For example, the sensors measure temperature, distance, light, or pressure and transmit this information to the robot's control system.

This allows a robot to recognise whether an obstacle is in its path, a door has been opened, or a person is approaching. Sensor networks make robots more flexible and safer to use, as they can capture a lot of information quickly and reliably at the same time.

A clear example: in modern warehouses, robots move autonomously through the aisles. Using their sensor networks, they detect obstacles, other robots and shelves. This enables them to avoid collisions and transport the required goods efficiently.

Sensor networks in robotics are therefore an important component for deploying intelligent, flexible and safe robots in many areas.
