Scalable AI Infrastructure (Glossary)

4.6
(1015)

Scalable AI infrastructure is primarily found in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Smart Data, as well as Digital Transformation. It describes the technical foundation that enables companies to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) flexibly and efficiently – regardless of whether few or very many tasks need to be processed simultaneously.

Scalable AI infrastructure ensures that computing power, data storage and networks can be adapted to actual demand at any time. This is like a motorway where more or fewer lanes are opened depending on traffic volume. For example, a company can launch small AI applications for customer service – if the business grows or more data is processed, the infrastructure can simply „grow along“ without having to be completely rebuilt.

A practical example: An online shop uses AI for product recommendations. During a special sale, visitor numbers suddenly increase rapidly. With a scalable AI infrastructure, the online shop can automatically activate additional resources so that the recommendations continue to work at lightning speed – and all this without any interruption.
