Prompt Engineering is at home in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and Automation. The term refers to the targeted creation and optimisation of inputs – so-called „prompts“ – for AI systems such as chatbots or text generators, so that they deliver the most helpful and accurate responses possible.

Imagine you are using a digital assistant that summarises texts or generates images. The quality of the result depends heavily on how precisely and clearly your input, i.e. your prompt, is formulated. Prompt Engineering means designing these inputs so that the artificial intelligence precisely understands what is being asked for – and delivers the best possible outcome.

A simple example: You want an AI to generate a report on the latest trends in e-commerce. Instead of just typing „e-commerce trends“, you could improve the request with prompt engineering: „Create a summary of the three most important e-commerce trends for 2024 with brief explanations.“ This way, the AI will deliver more targeted and useful information.

Prompt engineering therefore simplifies working with AI applications and ensures that you as a user receive better and more understandable results.
