Acceptance in Neflental – An Adventure in the Lily Pad Bay
In the Neflental, the day began like a luminous painting during the Glittering High. The sun shone golden in the sky, and the light danced over the emerald-green meadows and sapphire-blue rivers. Pink Periwinkle awoke early. The valley was in the midst of the Glittering High, a special time of year when all the inhabitants celebrated together, laughed, and released colourful lanterns into the sky from the banks of the Crystal Lake.
This morning, Rosa Immergrün set off for Lily Pad Bay. There, rainbow fish glided beneath the large, floating leaves, and dragonflies with shimmering wings buzzed in the warm summer air. This was where Rosa Immergrün wanted to learn a new song for the summer festival.
The brave idea of difference
Rosa Immergrün met many other inhabitants at the lily pond. Most were practising traditional summer songs, but Rosa Immergrün hummed a completely different tune. The melody was free and wild, with notes that no one else in the valley knew. Some looked on in wonder, others giggled quietly.
„You're funny,“ one of the water gnomes suddenly cried out. „Everyone sings the same as always with us.“ Others seemed equally surprised. Rosa Immergrün paused briefly, feeling bewildered but not sad. Then Rosa Immergrün continued humming the unusual song a little louder.
Celebrating together, even when you're different
But as the song echoed through the water lily bay, more and more curious onlookers arrived. Even some of those celebrating on the shore of the Crystal Lake paused to listen. The melody was colourful, like the lanterns and the hues of the Glanzhoch festival. Suddenly, children began to dance with the dragonflies. The colourful fish swam faster, and the water splashed in rainbow colours. Everyone laughed as they realised how beautiful the new song was.
„What's this song called?“ someone from the group of Flossians called out. Rosa Immergrün kindly replied that it didn't have a name at all. It had simply come about because melodies sometimes sound different in the head and in the heart. An older Bergstein nodded and said: „That's exactly how the most beautiful things in life arise, when someone is brave enough to be different!“
Why being different makes the Neflental strong
Soon others also began to incorporate small changes into the songs. One Floosian sang especially low, one Buxie tapped funny rhythms on the roots of the trees. Some were shy at first, then more and more courageous. Suddenly, the summer festival at Lilypad Bay became more colourful and cheerful than ever before.
Rosa Immergrün smiled. Everyone was different, and that was exactly what made the festival and Neflental so special. The sun painted golden specks of light on the water and the colourful dresses. Everyone was allowed to be who they wanted to be, and together they experienced the most beautiful moment of all time.
Being different makes everything brighter
In the evening, everyone sat around the campfire. The lanterns floated silently above the water lily bay. Rosa Immergrün played the new song one more time, and everyone joined in with their own voices. Some sang loudly, some softly, some deeply, and some quite merrily off-key. But together, the song sounded wonderfully unique.
The White Elf Queen observed: „Nothing is more beautiful than when we are all allowed to be ourselves.“ She thanked Rosa Immergrün for showing today how powerful being different makes you. And so, a day in Neflental full of laughter and new friendships came to an end.
What do we learn from this?
In the Neflental and everywhere else, the rule is: those who are different bring new colours into life. No song sounds like another, no laugh is the same. It's only because we're different that being together is colourful and exciting. So dare to be yourself! That makes you special and life wonderful.
