A Story from the Neflental: Strong Together with Team Spirit

In Neflental, on a cool autumn morning, everything awoke in a soft veil of mist. The misty path wound its way through the forest. Against the mossy green and caramel colours, the rust-red leaves stood out beautifully, and the mist hung like fine threads between the old trees. Rosa Immergrün was up early and full of anticipation for the great fern meadow game. Today, it was to be decided which tribe would be allowed to keep the Wandering Staff of Team Spirit for an entire year.

Many children from all the peoples of the Neflental came together. The Evergreens, the Flossians, the Buchians, and even two Mountainstones wanted to be involved. The white elves also watched curiously from above. Everyone wanted to give their best, but there wasAlready a dispute during the first game. Some Flossians felt that they could swim the fastest anyway. Others believed the Buchians were stronger in tug-of-war because their roots were like tendons.

Together through the Foggy Cord Path

The first game began on the Misty Willow Path. The fog settled like a carpet on the ground. „Only together will you find the way out!“ called the Elf Queen. Rosa Immergrün thought for a moment, because she knew the fog could deceive everyone. But she said nothing, instead she watched intently as the others searched for the path. The Flossians ran ahead quickly, but immediately disappeared into the dense grey. The big Buchian, on the other hand, could barely get past the bushes. It quickly became clear that strength and speed were of no use here.

Rosa Immergrün suggested they hold hands so that no one got lost. She reminded everyone that team spirit was sometimes more important than competition. So they all crept forward carefully, talking quietly amongst themselves and listening to each other. Suddenly, a golden shimmer of light appeared on the ground – right by a small root. Rosa Immergrün realised they were very close to the Shadow Gate.

The Riddle of the Shadow Gate

The Shadow Gate loomed before them: the black basalt arch looked as if it had been placed there by a giant. It was still cool and grey, but then the fairy queen said: „Only if you go through the gate together will the secret path be revealed.“ A single golden ray of light fell through the gate and drew a glowing trail on the ground. Rosa Periwinkle stopped everyone and suggested that they touch the trail of light one by one. One Flossian wanted to walk through alone, but Rosa Periwinkle stopped him. „No one can do it alone. Fairness means everyone can join in,“ she said calmly.

Together towards the goal

Now everyone joined hands and stepped through the arch as one. The trail of light grew and the fog slowly receded. They reached the finish line as a team and everyone cheered with joy. The fairy queen presented them with the travelling staff of the team spirit. She praised how fairly Rosa Periwinkle and the other group had worked together: „You have shown that only fairness and respect for every team member can lead to victory!“

What do we learn from this?

The Great Fern Meadow Game in the Misty Valley showed everyone that fairness and team spirit can achieve a lot. No one can manage everything alone. Everyone counts, and if everyone treats each other fairly, many individuals become a truly strong group. Those who look out for their friends, listen to others and stick together, get much further – even when the fog is particularly dense or a riddle is really difficult.
