Micro-robots (Glossary)

4.1
(1059)

The term micro-robot is particularly relevant in the fields of robotics, nanotechnology, and Industry 4.0. Micro-robots are tiny machines, often no bigger than a grain of sand, that can independently perform specific tasks. They are made up of particularly light and small components, allowing them to operate in the smallest of spaces.

These small robots are often used in places where larger machines cannot reach. In medicine, for example, micro-robots can navigate through blood vessels to deliver medication specifically to a diseased organ. Another example is industry: there, micro-robots help to assemble very small components in electronic products – more precisely than a human could by hand.

Micro-robots are an important part of automation. They perform work tasks that are too small or too delicate for humans. This makes work processes faster, more precise, and often safer. Thanks to the rapid development in nanotechnology, micro-robots are gaining more and more capabilities and application possibilities across many industries.
