Industry 4.0 is considered a crucial pillar of a new industry in the 21st century. In this factory, technology not only allows for entirely new automation processes and thus efficient production, but also for personalised mass production.

The Digital Age is bringing about a new form of interconnectedness between production, distribution, and consumers.

Über virtuelle Netzwerke wie das Internet aber auch die digitale Infrastruktur, die als Internet of Things The term refers to how 21st-century production has opened up entirely new possibilities for an industry that works closely with consumer demand and saves costs in many areas of manufacturing. Imagine a factory as a multiply networked production site. The industrial robots working here not only have contact with the system (see Internet of Things), which controls the entire production. They also receive signals from Drones and others Robots, who deliver the right part at the right time for the assembly of a product.

Industry 4.0 is also networked with the smart home. The machines of the 21st-century industry receive information from consumers' private homes, just as they do from the office buildings of modern businesses. Intelligent devices automatically report to manufacturers when materials they need for their daily service are running low. The printer that automatically reorders cartridges as soon as its ink level is low is just one example. Many very traditional products are also equipped with RFID technology today. This feeds information about the object's environment into a virtual network.
