Exoskeletons are a term used in the fields of industry and Industry 4.0, robotics, and health and care. They refer to wearable assistive systems that support the body like an outer shell. The aim of exoskeletons is to enhance physical strength and reduce strain. Particularly in industry, they make heavy physical work easier, for example, when lifting and carrying loads. This reduces injuries and conserves employees' physical capacity.

A vivid example: In a car repair shop, mechanics wear exoskeletons to relieve the strain on their arms and shoulders when working overhead. The exoskeleton takes on a large portion of the weight and transfers it to the ground. This allows employees to work for longer periods without fatigue and safely.

Exoskeletons also help people with physical limitations in nursing or rehabilitation. For example, they make it possible to learn to walk again after an operation. Exoskeletons are therefore an important building block for physical relief and safety in the workplace, and contribute to significantly increasing the quality of life and work.
