With determination, you can achieve anything – here's how!

A very special night of frost had descended upon the Neflental. From the fern meadows to the peaks, glistening snow lay on the branches. A silvery-white glow lay over the valley. Stars twinkled in the sky so clearly that even the outlines of the Dragon's Tooth mountains became visible.

A goal in the frost night

In the middle of the forest, Rosa Immergrün wandered through the snow. Every step crunched, but she didn't stop. She knew exactly what she wanted. Tonight she wanted to reach the Foxlight Caves, because a special mushroom was said to grow there. This mushroom could glow in the dark like a warm, small campfire. And she urgently needed a bit of brightness for her friends the next day.

The valley was quiet, only a distant, spherical chiming floated through the crystal-clear air. Rosa looked around. The trees wore heavy snow hats and their branches sparkled with frost, as if someone had hung little stars on them. The snow glittered in silver-white and crystal. Yet Rosa wasn't distracted, because she was thinking of her destination.

How determination helps

Sometimes Rosa sank up to her knees in a snowdrift. Sometimes the cold stung her skin. Yet she told herself: „I will not give up. I can do this!“ She took a deep breath and trudged on. Each step brought her closer to the Foxlight Caves. Her thoughts, too, were as clear as the winter night sky.

On her way, she encountered small, memory-laden snowflakes that glowed gently in the moonlight. They reminded Rosa of past adventures. This gave her strength. Rosa knew that those who believe in a goal and keep moving forward receive help from memories and friends—even when they are not visible at the moment.

The Secret of the Foxlight Caves

At last, after a long march, Rosa Immergrün found the entrance to the Foxlight Caves. Outside, the wind swirled snow across the ground, but inside it was quiet. The soft, mossy floor felt like a carpet. Tiny mushrooms glowed on the walls like small campfires, bathing the cave in smoky grey and midnight blue light.

Rosa stood there admiringly for a moment. She carefully gathered some luminous mushrooms. She silently thanked the caves for their gift. Then she made her way home. Now she had light that would warm her friends and beautify her home.

What do we learn from this?

If you have a goal and difficulties lie ahead, your determination will always help you on your way. Those who don't give up and believe in themselves, get there. Just like on this frosty night in the Neflental, you too can achieve what you set out to do. Every step, however small, brings you closer to your goal. And sometimes, the most beautiful light shines towards you at the end of the path.
