Following his victory in the snap elections on Sunday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will serve a second term as president of Turkey A stand. In a very narrow referendum last year, Erdogan had expanded the powers of the president. From the new term, the president shall be head of state and government. Erdogan first became prime minister in 2003 and then moved into the role of president in 2014. If he completes his second term, Erdogan will have been in power for 20 years.
