Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are primarily at home in the fields of industry and Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, and automation. They combine computer engineering with physical processes. This means that machines, sensors, or devices are interconnected through modern software and networks, enabling them to exchange information or coordinate tasks autonomously.

A simple example of cyber-physical systems (CPS) is a modern production line in a car factory. Robotic arms, conveyor belts, and sensors work hand in hand. For instance, sensors are used to detect whether a component has been assembled correctly. If a sensor notices an error, the system automatically reports this to a computer, which may halt production or notify an employee. This makes processes more efficient, finds errors more quickly, and controls production more flexibly.

In short: Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) enable machines and computers to work together seamlessly. They are an important foundation for many innovations in modern industry and help automate and improve work processes.
