UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) belong to the drone technology, automation and Industry 4.0 categories. A UAV, often simply referred to as a „drone“, is an aircraft that flies without a pilot on board. It is either remotely controlled or follows a pre-programmed flight plan.

UAVs are used in many areas. In agriculture, for example, they help to monitor fields from the air and to spray fertilisers or crop protection agents selectively. In industry, they support the inspection of hard-to-reach facilities such as wind turbines. They also play an important role in rescue operations by supporting aerial search missions.

A vivid example: after a storm, a UAV can quickly and safely fly over large forest areas. This provides aerial images of damaged areas. This saves time and reduces the risk for people to go into dangerous areas.

The use of UAVs increases efficiency, saves costs, and improves safety. With modern cameras and sensors, they deliver precise data in real-time. This makes UAV technology indispensable in more and more industries.
