Touch sensor technology is particularly at home in the industrial and Industry 4.0 sectors, as well as the Internet of Things. The term describes technologies that can detect touches and convert them into electrical signals. Such sensors react to pressure or the mere approach of a finger. This allows machines, devices, or surfaces to be controlled without classic buttons or switches.

An everyday example of touch sensor technology is the smartphone display, which responds to taps or swipes. Touch sensors are also found in modern factory halls, for instance on machines, making them very easy and safe to operate. Employees can change settings or processes without contact or with a light tap – this saves time and increases safety.

Touch sensor technology enables many new applications: from smart light switches in buildings to innovative controls for production lines. Especially in conjunction with the Internet of Things, it ensures that devices become more intelligent and flexible. In short: touch sensor technology makes using technology easier and makes many digital solutions user-friendly in the first place.
