This is according to Numbers before, the Office of the New York State Comptroller published hat.
At the end of last year, the average Alaskan resident had a credit card balance of $4,270, over $1,000 more than the national average of $3,100. New Jersey is the second-worst state for credit card debt at $3,910 per capita, while Hawaii comes in third at $3,860. The South is better off, with Mississippi having the lowest average per capita debt at $2,020.
