Perseverance to the goal: A story from the Neflental
There was a very special day in the Neflental. The sun sent its golden rays down onto the wide plateau. It was Glanzhoch, the most beautiful festival of the year. The flowers in the Bernblütenhain glowed a vibrant yellow, as if the sky lay upon the earth. Around the grove, rivers and small lakes glittered, reflecting the light like dancing sparks of fire. Everywhere smelled of sweet honey and fresh summer rain.
Colourful lanterns floated gently through the twilight. Children laughed, adults decorated baskets with sapphire blue, coral red and emerald green ribbons. By the riverbank, all the valley's friends sat together, some humming quiet songs. Rosa Immergrün sat right among them. But this year, she had a big goal.
The Great Riddle of the Glanzhoch Festival
Every year, a riddle was solved at the Glanzhoch festival. Whoever managed it could make a wish. The prize was an amber light, which brought good luck for an entire year. Rosa Immergrün was determined to solve the riddle. But even the first clue was difficult. In the Bernblütenhain, three golden flowers had to be found. However, they all looked the same, and bees buzzed and butterflies danced everywhere.
Many friends gave up after a while. They would rather dance, build a fire, or take a cool dip in the river. But Rosa Evergreen stood still, looked around, and thought carefully. Then she spotted a tiny glimmer, right at the back by the biggest bushes.
With courage and perseverance through the Bernblossom Grove
Rosa Immergrün went there, even though the blossoms were very dense. With quiet steps, she carefully pushed branches aside, hearing her heart pound. The sweet scent of honey grew stronger and stronger. She indeed discovered the first golden blossom, accompanied by a bee. Rosa Immergrün thanked the bee kindly and continued searching.
Finding the second bloom was even harder. It was already getting dark, and the lanterns cast a mysterious light over the grove. Her friends called out to her as the party became more lively, but Rosa Immergrün didn't give up. She remembered that the reward for perseverance often only becomes apparent at the end. After a while, she found the second bloom on the bank of a crystal-clear pond, where tiny dragonflies danced.
The last golden bloom was hidden in the shadows, very close to the old tree stump that no one wanted to go past. Rosa Immergrün bravely climbed over a few roots, even though it was a bit wobbly. Finally, she held the third golden bloom in her hands, and her heart leaped with joy!
Sparks and a wish
Rosa Immergrün returned to the revellers with the three flowers. The sun had set by now, and stars danced in the sky. The villagers cheered when they saw the flowers. The amber light shone brightly, and Rosa Immergrün was allowed to consider her wish.
She wished that everyone in the Neflental would maintain courage and hope, even if something doesn't succeed immediately. Because she knew now: whoever pursues their goal with perseverance can achieve almost anything. The amber sparks from the bonfire shone particularly brightly that night.
