Tales from the Neflental: Justice for All in the Glow of Glory
In the Neflental, everyone celebrated the magnificent occasion. The sun shone a golden yellow, sending rays of gold and amber across the vast plateau. Colourful lanterns floated in the sky, the rivers sparkled sapphire blue, and the forests gleamed a vivid emerald green. The peoples gathered at the Flame Bush Grove, whose bushes already bore a reddish-gold shimmer in summer. The Buchians, Flossians, Bergsteins, and the white elves came together. Campfires crackled everywhere along the banks of the small lakes, and everyone quietly began to sing songs.
Rosie Perennial and the Grand Race
On this day, everyone wanted to have a race. Whoever ran first from the Firebush Grove to the highest point of the Shinehigh Plateau would receive a golden branch. Rosy Periwinkle was looking forward to it, but some other children became worried. The swift Flossian frog Jubenbamm could swim very well, but he ran slowly up the steep slope. The Buchian Linde had short legs, but her friend sparkled with anticipation.
„Is that fair?“ asked Linde. „Not everyone is equally good at racing. Will there be fairness for everyone?“ The children looked at each other questioningly.
Justice for all in the Neflental
Rosa laughed. „What does justice really mean?“ she mused aloud. „It's not enough for everyone to walk the same path. It's fairer if everyone has the same opportunities to compete and win.“
She suggested that everyone choose a route that suited them. The Flossians could swim a section of the river. The Buchians were to dash through the fern forest and the Bergsteins could climb over rocks. Part of the race also led across the sparkling meadows, which were open to all. Those who completed all the tasks celebrated at the finish line.
The white elves helped to mark the paths. They fluttered over the trails, scattering glass flowers so that no one would get lost. In this way, a fair task was created for everyone. Each person brought their strengths to bear, yet all experienced the fun together.
A festival of diversity in the Flame Bush Grove
Late in the afternoon, everyone reached the campfire at the Flame Bush Grove. The bushes shimmered like flames in the last rays of the sun. Proudly, the children crossed the finish line one after another, welcomed by cheers and music. No one won alone. They held the golden branch aloft together, and the light reflected in their smiling faces.
Linde smiled at the Flossian frog. „Today I learned: justice for all doesn't mean everyone doing the same thing. It means everyone can be different and still belong.“ The others nodded and laughed happily. The fire was warm, the lanterns glowed, and the valley felt like one big family.
What do we learn from this?
At the Glittering Festival in Neflental, they experienced that truly just living together means more than just equal rules for everyone. It's about enabling everyone to participate, just as they are. Life in Neflental brings the most joy when everyone is acknowledged and no one is excluded. Justice for all means helping one another – and valuing everyone, no matter how different they may be.
