Changing the world with helpfulness in the Neflental

Spring was colourful in the Neflental. The meadows glowed in May green, the sky shone in a strong blue. White and golden flowers bloomed everywhere. The scent of the flowers wafted through the warm air. It was the most beautiful time of year in the Neflental.

At the edge of the forest stood the Owl Watch. It was a thick, old tree stump that had rested there for many years. An owl family lived there. They watched over the forest, especially during the long nights. The owls also kept watch over Nightingale Path. The path wound like a ribbon through the flowering hawthorn bushes. There the nightingales sang so beautifully that all the inhabitants of the Neflentale loved their songs.

Rosa Immergrün discovers a problem

One morning, Rosa Immergrün strolled lightly along Nightingale Way. She breathed in the fresh air and listened to the cheerful songs of the birds. Suddenly, she heard a soft whimpering behind a bush. Rosa Immergrün listened more closely. There, it was coming from the owl's perch! She quickly ran to the old tree stump and saw the mother owl sadly spreading her wings.

The little owlet had sprained its wing yesterday while playing and could no longer fly. The other animals didn't know how to help and wanted to leave the owl family alone. But Rosa Immergrün didn't want to just walk by. She knew that every little bit of help counts – even the small kind.

Changing the world through helpfulness – a plan emerges

Rosa Immergrün didn't think for long. She remembered that healing lily-of-the-valley grew on the edge of the Nefle Valley – and it was precisely these that might be able to help the little owl. She ran down the path, past the golden and ivory flowers. The white blossoms gleamed in the light. A May-green carpet lay beneath her feet.

She picked a few lily of the valley flowers and returned. In a calm voice, she spoke to the mother owl: „I've brought you something. We'll put the leaves on the wing. Then it will surely heal quickly.“ The mother owl nodded gratefully, and together they bandaged the little owlet's wing.

The owl needed to rest for a while, so Rosa Immergrün and the mother sat with her. They told each other stories of the Neflental and watched the pale blue sky shimmering through the hawthorn bushes. After a while, they saw the young owlet cautiously moving its wings. It bravely fluttered a bit, and then a bit more – until it flew in short circles around the owl's perch.

Changing the world with helpfulness – like a song in the Neflental

Night had fallen in the Nightingale Valley. A light mist crept over the Nightingale Path, and the chirping of birds grew quieter. However, a little owl was wide awake again. It flew confidently to the Owl's Perch and called out: „Thank you, Rosa Immergrün! Without your help, I could never fly into the sky!“

And where there had just been fear, new hope blossomed. The animals in the Neflental saw how easy it can be to help each other. They realised that anyone can become a hero or heroine – no matter how small they are. Often, a helping hand or a kind word is enough.

What do we learn from this?

With helpfulness, you too can change the world. Simple actions make a big difference. When you help others, you yourself become a hero – just like Rosa Immergrün in the Nefl valley. Your helpfulness is like the song of the nightingales: it touches hearts and makes everything brighter.
