Stories from the Neflental: Compassion brightens the world
In the Neflental, the first rays of sunshine tentatively break through the blanket of fog. The blossom watch has begun. Cherry and violet blossoms in pastel pink, lilac, and pearl white gently reach towards the milky morning sun everywhere. Fine dew sparkles on thick cobwebs, which float between gnarled branches. In the distance, shadowy mythical creatures creep carefully between the trees, and there's a gentle magic in the air.
In the midst of this quiet, awakening world, Rosa Immergrün treads through the valley. She loves the Dawn Watch more than any other season because everything is still quiet and every sound rings out so wonderfully. The moss crackles under her feet, and the stones on the peculiar path shimmer mysteriously. The Glowstone Hollow is not far. She knows the way there like the back of her hand.
In the heart of the Glühstein hollow
Between the tall, mossy trees lies the Glowstone Hollow. Here, it looks as though the stones have captured starlight in their sleep. They glow faintly in the twilight, casting a gentle shimmer over everything around them. Pink Perennial finds this place wonderfully peaceful. She sits down on a warm stone and listens intently to the sounds around her.
Suddenly, she hears a soft sob. Curious, she gets up and follows the sound. After only a few steps, she discovers a small creature, almost transparent and with shimmering wings. It sits all alone between two glowing stones, trembling all over. The mythical creatures in the valley are often shy, but today the little creature looks very sad.
Compassion makes the difference
Rosa Immergrün approaches slowly and carefully. She kneels down to the creature and asks softly, „What happened? Why are you so sad?“ The little creature wipes away its tears and says, „The others are playing over there by the cherry blossom tree. But I slept for so long that I'm all alone now. I don't know if anyone still notices me.“
Rosa immediately feels how important it is to be kind right now. Sometimes it's small things that mean a lot. She smiles warmly, places a glowing stone in front of the creature, and says, „You are not alone. I'd be happy to sit with you. We can marvel at the colours of the blossoms and tell each other stories.“
Together they sit for a while. Rosa listens, laughs quietly along, and also shares her own stories. Step by step, the little creature's face brightens. It no longer feels so lonely. The glowstone hollow seems a little brighter in the morning light because friendship and compassion make the day more beautiful. After a short time, more creatures come by. They wave and invite both to play. The little creature beams with joy, and Rosa Immergrün is happy too.
Why small actions can change a lot
In the Neflental, everyone knows: A friendly smile, a few quiet words, listening, or just being there can change everything. No one has to do anything big to make the world a little brighter. When everyone in the Neflental looks out for each other, not only do the flowers bloom in pastel pink, lilac and emerald green, but so do the hearts of the residents. This is how the Blossom Watch becomes a very special time when everyone sticks together and helps each other.
What do we learn from this?
Compassion begins with very small gestures. Each of us can help others simply by listening and empathising. Small acts make the world a better place because they give warmth and friendship – just as Rosa Immergrün showed in the Glowstone Hollow during the Blossom Watch.
