Curiosity in the Neflental: The adventure begins

In the Neflental, it is the peak of radiance, the brightest time of the year. The sun stands high in the sky, sending its golden rays far over the mountains. Rivers glitter, small lakes sparkle, and the whole valley seems enchanted. Everywhere people are celebrating, wearing colourful clothes, and sitting by the riverbanks around crackling campfires. Lanterns float slowly in the warm twilight. Everything appears festive and mysterious at the same time.

The Bern Blossom Grove and a Special Question

In the midst of this joyful time, the gentle rustling in the Bern blossom grove attracts many. In this grove grow beautiful golden-yellow blossoms that smell of honey and summer rain. There, children and young people often lay down their blankets to dream, tell stories, or listen.

On a sunny afternoon, Rosa Immergrün decides to explore the Bernblossom Grove. Why do the blossoms there smell so special? And how do they glow when the first lanterns rise into the air in the evening? Rosa absolutely wants to know. She quietly makes her way through the tall grass.

Every question is an adventure

Rosa's curiosity leads her straight into the adventure. She first observes a group of Flossians arriving in silent boats. The Flossians wave amicably and invite her to splash around in the water, but she sticks to her question.

So she reaches the edge of the Bearberry Grove. Here, golden petals dance on a light breeze. Their sweet scent captivates everyone. Rosa discovers an old bookseller sitting under a blooming tree.

She summons all her courage and goes to him. „Why does it smell so strongly of honey in here?“ she asks curiously.

Find answers and ask further questions

The Buchian chuckles softly. „The golden blossoms only give their scent to those who ask with true curiosity,“ he replies. „But you know, the secret isn't in the pollen, but here in the gleam, when moonlight and lantern light meet the blossoms.“

Rosa thanks them and looks closer. She notices small crystal droplets on the blossoms. In the sunlight, they glitter like amber and sapphires. She wonders: „How did these droplets get onto the blossoms?“

She quickly searches for answers. She examines one blossom, then another. A Flossian helps her look. Together they discover: tiny, invisible beetles bring the water to the blossoms when they dance at night!

Curiosity brings light to the Neflental

This message is spreading quickly among the revellers by the river. Some children arrive with small lanterns and begin to watch the nightly spectacle. Together, they marvel at the wonder of the dancing beetles and the glowing amber flowers.

Once again, Rosa asks: „How do the beetles always find their way home?“ Nobody knows the answer yet. But curiosity is piqued and brings the friends together. They decide to keep searching for answers on each summer solstice night.

What do we learn from this?

The adventure in the Neflental valley begins with a small question and leads further and further. Curiosity makes life colourful and exciting. Every answer brings new questions. And searching for secrets together is even more enjoyable.
