A story from the Neflental: Politeness rocks!

In the Neflental, the season of Gleam-high reigned. The sun coloured everything in golden and amber hues. The Crystal Lake sparkled like a mirror. On the shores of the Lily Pad Bay, lanterns swayed gently in the breeze. There, colourful groups sat around the campfire, laughing merrily together. Children balanced on the round leaves of the water lilies, while dragonflies hovered over the water.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle, Rosa Periwinkle moved cautiously through the crowd. She really wanted to be part of the big summer festival. Everyone from the Neflental came to Water Lily Bay. Even the Flossians swam over from their stilt houses to join in the excitement and cheerful celebrations. The air smelled of grilled sweet root bread and warm glittering poppies.

Politeness in Action at the Lily Pond

Rosa Immergrün heard a buzzing next to her. Two evergreen children were arguing. „You took the prettiest pebble!“ cried one, stamping angrily on a lily pad. „No, it was in front of me first!“ cried the other back.

Rosa Immergrün walked slowly towards the two. She smiled kindly and said, „Shall we perhaps look for more beautiful stones together? That way you can both have some.“ The children looked at each other, smiled – and nodded. They immediately ran off to collect on the shore, laughing as they did so.

Why politeness is so cool

Rosa Immergrün passed a group of Flossians. They asked her for some space by the fire. She immediately and kindly made room for them, smiling, „Come, sit down! There's enough warmth for everyone.“ The Flossians gratefully said, „Thank you, how kind of you!“ and told funny stories about the lake. Soon, everyone was laughing together.

Standing to one side was a shy Buchianer. No one spoke to him. Rosa Immergrün waved kindly and asked, „Would you like to join us by the fire?“ After a moment's hesitation, the Buchianer dared to approach. Thus, he became part of the colourful group and felt at ease.

Thanks to politeness, the festival will be particularly

Even when a piece of crusty bread fell into the water, Rosa Evergreen didn't call out crossly. Instead, she said, „Perhaps a hungry fish down there will enjoy it.“ And at that very moment, a golden fish snapped it up, glittering in the light – everyone laughed because the fish were also celebrating with them today.

As the evening grew darker, people lit colourful lanterns. They sent them floating into the sky. Rosy Periwinkle thanked the friendly Flossians for sharing and the Periwinkle children for their hat-giving. Everyone said a polite and warm goodbye to each other.

What do we learn from this?

Politeness rocks! It brings everyone together. Being polite and kind is cool and makes it easier to find friends. Because Rosie Evergreen was polite, everyone in the Lily Valley had a wonderful Bright Celebration by the Lily Pond. Everyone went home happy and with a smile. Perhaps you could try it too? A „thank you“, a smile, or a friendly offer makes every day nicer.
