Pride in the Neflental: Rosa Immergrün celebrates her success
It was a frosty night in the Neflental. Snow lay everywhere in the valley, and the full moon made the evergreen fern meadows gleam with a silver light. Between the tall bracken, the houses of the evergreens grew like small, sparkling mounds. The colours were magical: everything was silver-white, midnight blue, smoky grey, and crystal clear.
The Big Task for Rosa Periwinkle
On this special night, Rosa Immergrün had mastered a great task. For many days, she had been working on a special winter picture. She wanted to paint a picture that recalled the glittering snowflakes that danced from the sky on the frosty night. Again and again, her brush had slipped, or the colours did not want to shine as she had imagined. But Rosa Immergrün never gave up; instead, she tried again day after day.
Finally, just before the frosty night, she had managed to create her winter picture. It sparkled and shimmered as if she had captured the memory fragments of snowflakes. Even the wide fern meadows of Immergrün were visible in the picture, as was the rooftop terrace of John Immergrün's house. From there, as in real life, one could admire the glittering lake of the Flossians.
The moment of pride
Rosa Immergrün felt a warm pride in her heart. She had finished the painting despite the many difficulties. She thought of her cold fingers while painting, of the many attempts it took to find the right colour, and of the sleepless nights when she wanted to draw the perfect snowflake. Nevertheless, she had never given up.
So Rosa placed the picture right in the centre of the little meadow clearing. The other Evergreens came closer, curious to see. Even from the houses, which shimmered like dewdrops on the fern leaves, everyone climbed down. When John Evergreen saw the picture, he exclaimed excitedly: „Just look what a masterpiece! Rosa Evergreen has captured the magic of the frosty night!“
Celebrating your own success properly
Rosa Immergrün smiled and felt her pride grow. She was allowed to praise herself, for she had given her best. In the circle of her friends, they celebrated her success. They told the story again and again. Some evergreens even sang a song about the frosty night and the beautiful picture.
Rosa took time that evening to gaze quietly at the fern meadows. She heard the faint tolling of a bell coming from the depths of the valley and gazed at the sparkling stars above the snow-capped peaks. Each snowflake around her reminded her that effort and perseverance are worthwhile.
