A Special Task in the Neflental

In the Nefl Valley, summer is particularly vibrant. Every day, sunbeams dance between the giant ferns. The flowers glow in May green, ivory, and you’ll spot sky blue and gold in the heavens. Every resident feels the magic of the season. Yet today, an exciting day lay ahead.

The plan for the summer festival in the Neflental

Preparations are underway in the village on Nightingale Way for the big summer festival. All the residents want a particularly beautiful decoration for the festival grounds. But no one knows exactly who should be making the luminous flower chains. They all look at each other questioningly. Then Rosa Immergrün gets an idea. She has just walked along Nightingale Way, where the bushes are blooming white and fragrant. The song of the nightingales can be heard from the branches.

She says: „I can give it a try. I make garlands every day. This time I'll try it with the big blooms from the fern forest.“ Everyone in the village nods. But Rosa's stomach flutters, because the order is much bigger than usual.

The path to the fir-glow summit

So Rosa Immergrün sets off early in the morning. Her path leads her along the Nightingale Path, which winds its way through blooming hawthorn bushes. The birds chirp merrily. Wind and light play amongst the leaves. Soon she sees the Fir Ember Peak in the distance. Even from afar, its fir trees glow red in the golden sunlight.

Rosa Immergrün collects the most beautiful blossoms on her travels. She takes care not to harm any plants. And with each flower, she considers how she can incorporate it into the chain. At the foot of the Tannenglutkuppe, she lays out her treasures: May-green leaves, ivory-coloured blossoms, sky-blue bells, and golden grasses. The sun is high, and the fir trees glow like flames.

Rosa Immergrün begins to carefully knot the chain. At first, she feels unsure. The task seems enormous. But she remembers: I have made many chains before. I can do this! Step by step, she adds each blossom. With every new bow and every new knot, her pride grows.

Because the work is so precise, she loses track of time. Only when the sun begins to set and the red of the fir-covered peak glows particularly brightly does she look up. Her flower garlands glisten in the colours of ivory, spring green, sky blue, and gold. Slowly, she makes her way back to the village.

Joy in the village and an important feeling

In the village, everyone is waiting with great anticipation. When they see the sparkling chains, everyone claps with joy. „How beautiful!“ someone exclaims. For the first time, Rosa Immergrün truly feels: she has achieved something special. She dared to try, worked hard, and showed what she's capable of.

In the evening, the flower garlands around the festival grounds glow. The residents dance under candlelight among the fragrant blossoms. And every time Rosa Immergrün sees her flower garlands, she feels warmth and pride in her heart.

What do we learn from this?

Everyone can create something special if they believe in themselves and don't give up. Sometimes a task looks big and difficult at first. But if you try and don't give up, you can show everyone what you're capable of. And then you'll feel a pride that will make you happy for a long time.
