Fairness in the Neflental – The Story of Rosa Immergrün and the Shared Blossoms
Spring has arrived in the Neflental valley, and colours are blooming everywhere. Today, the sun is shining with particular warmth on the Bernblütenhain. The entire grove glows golden yellow, and the scent is reminiscent of honey and fresh summer rain. Rosa Immergrün loves this place because it offers a sense of security, and she often meets her friends here.
Bernblossom Grove: A Special Meeting Place
At the edge of the Bernblossom Grove, Rosa Immergrün already waits with anticipation. Soon her friends will arrive: Tammo Buchianer from the Beechwood, Mino Flossianer from Crystal Lake, and Lira Bergstein from Edelberg. They want to go on an outing to the Violet Glade together. But first, they want to play games in the grove and collect golden Bernblossoms.
Dispute over the Bern Blossoms
The golden blossoms are beautiful and smell sweet. Everyone wants to pick as many as possible, because the blossoms shimmer in the sunlight and are said to be little good luck charms. Tammo catches the most and hides them behind his back. Mino wants some too, and Lira is desperate to have the most beautiful blossom. A small tussle is already beginning.
Rosa Periwinkle sees how the dispute is growing. Mino feels unfairly treated because Tammo takes all the big flowers. Lira is sad because she gets nothing. Suddenly it's no longer fun to be together. Tammo realises that the others are getting angry.
The invitation to the Violet Clearing
Rosa Evergreen has an idea. She says, „Come with me! There's a colourful carpet of flowers for everyone in the violet clearing.“ The four friends run off together. They reach the hidden clearing, which is covered in violets, crocuses and fresh greenery. In the middle stands an old statue, wrapped in soft moss. Small rays of sun shine in its eyes, making everything seem magical.
Here Rosa puts down the collected buttercups. She asks the others, „How can we share them so that everyone is happy?“ Tammo thinks. „We could count each flower and distribute them fairly! Everyone gets the same amount.“ Mino nods in agreement. Lira beams and helps with the counting. Together they manage to divide the flowers fairly amongst themselves. Everyone receives the same amount, and they place the most beautiful middle flower in front of the statue on the clearing, so that the animals and plants of the Neflental can also enjoy it.
Friendship through fairness
All the brands, how lovely it feels when no one is sad and everyone gets what they deserve. They laugh, hop and play together between the violet and sunshine yellow of the violets. Finally, they sit side by side on the soft moss. Pink suggests: „Let's always be fair to each other! Then every friend will feel truly happy.“ The others agree. Because they shared fairly, they remained best friends.
What do we learn from this?
Fairness is like sunbeams, warming everyone equally. True friendship grows when we share and are just. For only then can our togetherness become strong – whether in the Neflental or in our own homes.
