Compassion makes you strong in everyday life – A story from the Neflental

It was a glorious high in the Neflental. The sun glittered like a treasure in the sky, and its rays painted patterns of gold, sapphire blue, coral red, and emerald green on meadows and water. On the shore of the Crystal Lake, the inhabitants celebrated together. Small fires burned everywhere, children laughed, and lanterns danced softly in the warm twilight.

A day full of colours at the Water Lily Bay

Very close by lay the lily pond. A tranquil corner, covered with round, green leaves and delicate white flowers. Colourful fish swam gently beneath the leaves, and dragonflies with shimmering wings danced through the summer air.

On this special day, Rosa Immergrün happily strolled to the lily pond. Sunlight sparkled on the water, and in the distance, Rosa could hear the laughter of others. But suddenly, at the edge of the pond, Rosa spotted a little Flossian sitting sadly on a rock. His feet dangled in the water, and his shoulders hung limply.

What happened?

Rosa stepped closer and asked gently if everything was alright. The Flossian sighed and explained that no one had invited him to take part in the big swimming game at the celebrations. Rosa immediately felt sympathy. She then sat down next to the Flossian and considered how he must be feeling.

„Perhaps it wasn't intentional,“ Rosa said carefully. „Sometimes other people forget how important it is to be nicer to each other.“

Rosa remained seated, laughing, and told the raft-dweller stories of fun adventures at Water Lily Bay. The dragonflies danced in the light, and little by little, the raft-dweller's face brightened.

Compassion makes friends

At the campfire, the others notice that Rosa and the Flossian are missing. A few children climbed into their small boats and rowed to the bay. When they arrived, Rosa and the Flossian were already playing together with the dragonflies.

„Come and play with us!“ called Rosa cheerfully, beckoning the others closer. Everyone immediately jumped into the water, laughing and splashing. No one was left out, and their friendship continued to grow in the warm sunlight.

And so, on this shining day, a new swimming game was born, in which everyone joined in. The Flossian also felt strong and cheerful. The joy was infectious because someone listened with compassion, understood, and offered friendship.

Why being nice makes you strong

Rosa showed it to everyone. Compassion doesn't make you weak, it connects you. It ensures that no one is left alone. Those who are kind give courage and make others smile. This is how true friendships are formed, which strengthen every heart.

In the gentle glow of the setting sun, the friends vow to always be there for each other. The lanterns shine brightly, and laughter echoes long into the lily-pad cove.
