Industrial IoT security is particularly relevant in the fields of industry and Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, and cybercrime and cybersecurity. The term refers to all measures to protect digitally connected machines, systems, and sensors from attacks and unauthorised access.

In factories or production plants today, many devices work together via the so-called „Internet of Things“ – they exchange data, control processes, and automatically report their status. This is precisely where hackers often intervene to cause disruptions or steal data. Industrial IoT security ensures that these attacks are prevented and that production runs smoothly at all times.

A vivid example: In a modern car factory, sensors and robots control the entire assembly process. If a hacker gains access to the system, they can disable machines or cause faulty cars to be produced. Thanks to consistent industrial IoT security, data is encrypted, devices are monitored, and access is controlled, thereby fending off such attacks.

Therefore, industrial IoT security is a crucial protective mechanism for companies, ensuring that digitalisation in production becomes a success rather than a risk.
