Anyone who owns, runs and maintains an online business or a website needs articles. Quite simply, everyone who has a website knows this. Even those who don’t have a website but use the internet frequently know this. Articles satisfy people’s thirst for information and knowledge. What’s more, articles offer many other benefits for the website. The benefits of articles are that they help a website rank highly in search results for keywords and phrases relevant to your site. They also attract visitors to your website when linked to from another site or a newsletter. Articles help build customer trust in your website and your business. Many articles benefit both the business and its visitors. If readers like the articles, they will share them with their friends, family and colleagues and recommend your website to them, which in turn brings in more visitors. You will achieve higher sales if your visitors trust you and believe in you. Your product or services are much easier to sell when people know that you know what you are doing and what you are talking about. Right then, we’ve established that articles are very important for a website and for business. Articles are crucial, and to stay in the game, a website absolutely must have articles; it’s essential. There is, however, a dilemma: not many people enjoy writing articles. Many website owners would rather spend their time on something else, and unless you’re a large company, you don’t have the resources to employ a team of article writers. Plagiarism or copying other people’s articles is frowned upon and can easily get you into trouble; in the worst case, it could even lead to a hefty fine or a prison sentence.

So, what are the other options?

Well, if you hate writing articles and can’t afford to hire people to write them for you, then don’t bother. Get hold of some free articles. The first place you should look for free articles is the public domain. Here, you won’t have any problems with copyright infringement or the resulting penalties and fines if you’re caught plagiarising. Public domain articles are articles made freely available to the public. You can do whatever you like with them. You can publish them on your website, claim them as your own, include them in a newsletter – it’s entirely up to you. However, always remember that you must choose articles that are relevant to your website. The downside of public domain articles is that many of your competitors may also have access to them, as they are freely available to everyone. Since every website must be original and unique, even if you share the same niche, this could pose a problem. You may also need to edit them slightly to include more keywords and keyword phrases to improve their quality. Another way to obtain free articles is to allow other websites covering the same topic as yours to publish articles on your site. This would simply serve to supplement your existing content; otherwise, all your articles would link to other websites, as these articles contain resource boxes that could link or redirect readers to their sites. That is why it is important to have your own articles. You can use them to link your website to other sites as well. But to really appreciate what a good article means for you, you should opt for original articles. There are many article writers who write articles part-time or as freelancers and charge only minimal fees. You can get good articles containing all the keywords and key phrases you need and that people are searching for. The investment you make in these articles will be worth it, as you can use them to your full advantage. You own the copyright to the articles and can use them however you like. If your articles help you build your business and website, you’ll need to write more articles, and perhaps you’ll stop worrying about articles altogether.
