The Neflental in winter and the power of humility

A new season begins in the heart of the Neflental. Winter has arrived. Snow sparkles everywhere. The rivers are at rest. And on the Snow Veil Lake, there is an almost magical stillness. The lake is frozen over. Luminous lights dance on its ice, and the sky above glows with icy blue, night blue, and soft white.

A Special Invitation to Sunny Valley

Rosa Immergrün wakes early in the morning. The icy wind whistles around her window. Yet today, she feels particularly curious. A quiet sound calls from outside. It's the birds that live in the nearby Sunfeather Valley. These birds are quite special. They have golden plumage and their song sounds like light and joy. Rosa Immergrün decides to visit Sunfeather Valley.

There's a surprise waiting in Sonnenfeder Valley

Right from the first step, she feels the fresh snow under her feet. On her way, Rosa Immergrün meets other friends from the Neflental. Many want to see today what makes the golden birds so happy. When she arrives in the Sonnenfedertal, she marvels at the beauty of the golden birds. They dance from branch to branch, filling the air with music. Many young residents of the valley want to be admired just like the birds.

Who is really strong here?

Some Neflent children also want to shine. They bring out their most precious gemstones, swing their most beautiful cloaks, or show off unusual tricks. They think that if everyone admires them, they are particularly strong. But nobody really notices. Because everyone is looking at the golden birds and listening to their song.

Rosa Immergrün watches quietly. She claps her hands in a friendly way, but doesn't push forward. The golden birds, however, land suddenly next to her. As if by magic, they settle on her arm. The golden feathers gleam next to her hand in the snow. Everyone is amazed. Rosa Immergrün laughs a little shyly, but remains calm and friendly. Then the others ask, „Why are the birds coming to you?“

Rosa Immergrün replied quietly: „I just wanted to hear their song and share in their joy. You don't always have to be the centre of attention to be strong and happy.“ The golden birds chirped in agreement, as if they had understood.

The Return to Snowveil Lake

As she returns to Snowveil Lake in the evening, the ghost lights twinkle in the ice. Rosa Immergrün sits on the bank and thinks. The starry sky is reflected on the smooth surface. Suddenly, the lights around her shine even brighter. Many from the valley had wanted to show their power. But the magic of humility shines brighter than any vain sparkle.

Rosa Immergrün knew: Real strength is often found in the quiet, the gentle, and the humble. She looked at the snow and smiled, feeling safe and sound. She wasn't loud. She didn't want to shine. Yet, she made everything glow – without bragging. The golden birds flew back to her one last time in her dreams, and the winter evening felt warm.

What do we learn from this?

Modesty is a wonderful gift. It makes you strong because you open your heart and bring joy to others, without much fuss. In Neflental and especially at Schneeschleiersee, everyone notices: those who listen to others, those who empathise honestly, possess a special strength. Together with Rosa Immergrün and her friends, you can discover that it is sometimes nicer to help in the background than to be in the spotlight.
