A Tale from the Neflental: The Day on the Violet Clearing

In the Neflental, residents experience small and large adventures every day. On a sunny autumn morning, gentle wisps of mist crept through the valley. The forests glowed in warm colours. The Maple Fire clearing blazed in rich red and orange, as if little flames were dancing among the trees. Rosie Evergreen was already looking forward to this day, as she wanted to hike to the Violet Clearing.

The special violet clearing in the Nethers valley

The violet clearing is a secret spot in the Neflental. It's full of colourful violets and crocuses. In the middle of the clearing stands an ancient statue, covered in soft moss. Sunbeams filter through the trees, making little dots of light dance across her face. The colours in the clearing bewitch everyone: purple, sunny yellow, leaf green and some pearl grey can be seen everywhere. It feels peaceful.

On her way to Violet Clearing, Rosa Immergrün picked up some red leaves that had fallen from the maple trees. She wanted to make a pretty wreath out of them later. Her thoughts were happy, but she was also a little excited. Today, a special task awaited her in Neflental.

Mistakes are happening in the Neflental.

Rosa Immergrün was almost there when suddenly someone called out from behind an old fern: „You accidentally got my favourite book wet yesterday!“ It was her friend from the Neflental. Rosa was startled when she saw the wet pages. She had accidentally put the book down on the bench while collecting water. She felt sad and guilty because she had made a mistake.

In the Neflental, everyone knows that mistakes sometimes happen. Even when we try our best, not everything always works out. Rosa looked at the wavy pages and said softly, „I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention and I want to make it right.“

Learning forgiveness in the Neflental

In Neflental, forgiveness is very important. Rosa Immergrün knew this, but she was still afraid that her boyfriend might be angry. However, her boyfriend sighed, looked at the statue in the middle of the violet clearing, and said very quietly: „I was sad at first, but I want to forgive you. Books can dry up, and friends are more important.“

Together, they placed the book in the sun, on the warm violet clearing in the Neflental. The sun's rays slowly smoothed the pages again. Rosa Immergrün felt her heart grow lighter. Her friend smiled at her and both of them felt at ease again.

Forgive yourself in the Neflental

After their moment of happiness, Rosa and her friend sat down in front of the moss-covered statue. They told each other about times they themselves had been sad because they had hurt someone. They realised: In the Neflental, forgiveness is part of life, because nobody is perfect.

Rosa Immergrün learned how important it is to forgive yourself as well. „I didn't want to break anything,“ she whispered, „from now on I'll be more careful.“ Her friend nodded, as he had had similar experiences.

The Neflental thrives on friendship and courage

Together they hopped among the purple and yellow flowers, laughing again. The violet clearing showed its full glory in the sunlight. The statue with the shining eyes seemed to wink at them. It felt as though the Neflental was rewarding them for their courage to forgive.

And so the two realised: life blossoms in the Neflental when we forgive others, and also when we forgive ourselves. The colours become brighter, hearts lighter, and friendships grow especially strong.

What do we learn from this?

Sometimes we make mistakes, even in the Neflental. We can ask for forgiveness and forgive each other. And it's just as important to forgive yourself. Only then will we feel free, cheerful, and connected again. The next time you do something wrong, think of Rosa Immergrün and the Veilchenlichtung. You too can forgive – others and yourself!
